Configuration Guide
Configuring Your Bot
Configure your trading bot settings, choose risk presets, and set up trading pairs. This guide covers all configuration options.
Quick Configuration
The fastest way to get started:
- Choose a risk preset (Safe, Moderate, Degen, or Extreme)
- Select a trading pair (BTC-PERP, ETH-PERP, etc.)
- Review the auto-calculated base order size
- Set trading mode to DRY for testing
- Start trading!
Multiple Trading Pairs
You can configure up to 3 trading pairs simultaneously. Each pair operates independently:
- Each pair can have its own preset and settings
- Independent base order sizes and risk limits
- Signals work independently for each pair
- Total exposure is tracked across all pairs
Configuration Options
📊 Risk Preset
Pre-configured risk profiles optimized for different risk tolerances
- Safe: Conservative, 3 max levels, 1x leverage, best for beginners
- Moderate: Balanced, 4 max levels, 2x leverage, recommended for most users
- Degen: Aggressive, 5 max levels, 3x leverage, for experienced traders
- Extreme: Maximum risk, 6 max levels, 4x leverage ⚠️ (requires confirmation)
💱 Trading Pair
Select which cryptocurrency perpetual to trade
Available pairs: BTC-PERP, ETH-PERP, SOL-PERP, BNB-PERP, HYPE-PERP
💰 Base Order Size
Starting position size for each sequence
Auto-calculated based on preset and portfolio balance (recommended). You can override with a custom value if needed.
⚙️ Advanced Parameters
Fine-tune your strategy (usually handled by presets)
- Grid spacing: Distance between levels (tighter = more frequent entries)
- Take profit: Profit target percentage
- Max loss: Maximum loss before auto-close
- Leverage: Position multiplier (amplifies both profits and losses)
🛡️ Risk Controls
Additional safety features
- Trailing stop loss: Enable/disable (enabled by default, locks in profit)
- Daily loss limit: Optional daily loss cap
- Maximum exposure: Total exposure limit across all sequences
🎯 Trading Mode
Choose between paper trading and live trading
- DRY: Paper trading with virtual balance (no real money at risk)
- LIVE: Real trading with Hyperliquid API credentials (requires setup)
Where to Configure
You can configure your bot in two ways:
- Web Dashboard: Navigate to Config page for visual configuration
- Telegram Bot: Send
/configurecommand for step-by-step setup
Configuration Tips
- Use presets: Let presets calculate base size - they're optimized for safety and performance
- Grid spacing matters: Tighter spacing = more frequent entries, wider spacing = better average down per level
- More levels = higher risk: More levels allow better recovery but increase maximum exposure
- Leverage amplifies: Leverage multiplies both profits and losses - use carefully
- Test first: Always start with DRY mode to test your configuration before going live
- Start conservative: Begin with Safe or Moderate preset, then adjust based on results
- Recommended strategy: We recommend running one sequence per pair and running multiple pairs for better diversification and risk management
Updating and Deleting Configurations
When updating or deleting configurations, the system provides warnings and blocks certain actions to protect your sequences.
⚠️ Important: Config Updates Affect Running Sequences
When you update a configuration while sequences are running, those sequences will immediately start using the new configuration values. This includes:
- Max levels - Sequences may stop adding levels if the new limit is lower
- Grid spacing - Next level trigger distance changes
- Take profit - Profit target threshold changes
- Max loss - Loss threshold changes
- Leverage - PnL calculations use new leverage
- All other configuration parameters
Best Practice: If you have open sequences, consider closing them first before updating the configuration, or accept that running sequences will use the new values immediately.
Warnings You May See
The system provides comprehensive warnings categorized by priority:
Priority 2 (Important):
- Open Sequences: If you have open sequences, they will immediately use the new configuration values
- Max Levels Reduced: If you reduce max_levels below any sequence's current levels_used, those sequences won't be able to add more levels
- Max Sequences Reduced: If you reduce max_concurrent_sequences below your current open sequences count, you won't be able to open new sequences until some close
- Deactivating with Sequences: When deactivating a bot, existing sequences continue but no new ones will open
Priority 3 (Additional Warnings):
- Leverage Changed: PnL recalculated immediately - leverage amplifies both profits and losses
- Allocated Capital Changed: Equity recalculated - affects base size, risk limits, and max loss thresholds
- Daily Loss Limit: Reducing below current loss stops sequences immediately; reducing close to current loss may stop them soon
- Threshold Proximity: Reducing max_loss or tp_pct when sequences are close (80%+) may trigger immediate actions
Additional Edge Cases:
- Preset Changed: Multiple parameters change at once (max_levels, multiplier, grid_spacing, tp_pct, max_loss, leverage)
- Trailing Stop Changed: Affects sequences with active trailing stops - distance and behavior change immediately
- Grid Spacing Changed: Changes when next level triggers for sequences waiting to add levels
- Multiplier Changed: Changes next level size for sequences waiting to add levels
- Max Exposure Changed: Disabling removes cap; enabling/reducing may block new sequences if exposure is high
🚫 Blocked Actions
The system prevents these actions to protect your sequences:
- Cannot change trading pair if open sequences exist (prevents orphaned sequences)
- Cannot change pair to one that already has a config (prevents duplicates)
- Cannot delete configuration if open sequences exist (prevents orphaned sequences)
To change or delete a configuration: Close all sequences for that trading pair first, then make your changes.
